Pre Sale/Pre Lease Inspection Service
Are you looking to purchase or lease commercial property in Addison?
We provide a free inspection service to help you avoid unknown and sometimes costly problems.
Our Fire Prevention Officers will do a walk through and point out fire related issues that you may need to address should you buy or lease the property.
Commercial Keybox Program
All buildings in the District that have required alarm systems or buildings that provide security to public areas must be equipped with a keybox.
This device is mounted to the exterior of the building and provides the Fire District with access to the building during times the building is unoccupied. This access is used only by fire personnel and only in emergency situations, as an alternative to having to forcibly enter a building to assess the reason for the alarm. This program allows us to perform the necessary assessment of the situation, without causing damage to the building in the process. The keys used to access the keybox are positively controlled and are not accessible to the public at any time.
Residential Keybox Program
A residential key box program was initiated late in 2010. With the demographics of Addison, and the pride of its citizens, the Fire Department was experiencing several calls to senior citizens. Access to the homes at times was difficult. A residential key box allows the homeowner to put a house key in a secure “safe” that only fire department personnel can access.
Two key boxes were purchased by Fire Prevention to help streamline the installation for residents that requested boxes. The residents pay the cost of the box to the Addison Fire District, and we install the box we have in stock. We then order a replacement box. If the resident no longer requires the box we will purchase the box back from the resident for the cost of the box.
